A New Chapter in Downtown Albuquerque
FBT Architects recently relocated its headquarters to the 15th floor of the landmark 500 Marquette building, trading its former Uptown space for a larger home that reflects its growth, collaborative culture, and commitment to revitalizing downtown Albuquerque. The 17,000-square-foot space—with panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains—offered an ideal backdrop for a bold, community-minded workplace.

Designing With Authenticity, Flexibility & Culture
The original space—featuring exposed ceilings, visible ductwork, and concrete floors still bearing traces of their past as a part of the beloved Petroleum Club—served as inspiration rather than limitation. FBT leaned into the character of the shell, painting mechanical systems white to create sculptural overhead elements, polishing the concrete flooring to celebrate texture, and adding plywood paneling for warmth and material balance.

To prioritize transparency and connectivity, private offices were placed at the building core. The perimeter—lined with floor-to-ceiling glass—became home to shared workstations, flexible meeting rooms, and open collaboration zones. The “Collaboratory,” a central hub equipped with a glass whiteboard wall, supports brainstorming sessions, and client workshops. With curated displays throughout, the studio doubles as a living design gallery.

A Workspace Built for Community
The flexible layout and central bar enable the office to seamlessly transition from an active studio to an event space. Since opening, it has hosted AIA gatherings, Albuquerque Regional Economic Alliance (AREA) events, client sessions, and community-focused programs—furthering FBT’s commitment to reenergizing downtown Albuquerque and creating a destination for design dialogue.

ASI Delivers Elevated Details, Seamless Coordination
A trusted partnership between FBT and ASI played a significant role in shaping the new headquarters. FBT Principal Jeremy Trumble reached out directly to the ASI team—continuing a long-standing relationship built on collaboration, service, and shared design standards.

While the general contractor excluded Division 10 from the master plan, FBT took ownership of the process. Jeremy coordinated directly with ASI to review product options and select solutions that aligned with the firm’s hospitality-inspired design goals.

“Our vision for the new studio centered on delivering a hospitality-quality experience for both staff and visitors. ASI’s product line fit seamlessly into that vision, bringing a level of refinement and elevated detail to the restrooms that enhances the overall environment.”

ASI supplied Alpaco™ Elegance phenolic partitions, matte black washroom accessories, and LED backlit mirrors, creating clean, contemporary restrooms that match the aesthetic quality of the studio’s front-of-house spaces. Throughout the office, ASI Visual Display Products support daily work, presentations, and client meetings—reinforcing the studio’s culture of collaboration.

FBT noted the process was smooth and straightforward, with ASI providing responsive guidance, high-quality products, and a cohesive package that elevated the washrooms and enhanced the studio's functionality.

A High-Performance Studio
FBT’s new headquarters is a modern, flexible design environment that reflects the firm’s identity and mission. ASI’s restroom and visual display solutions help unify the space—supporting everyday operations, enriching client experiences, and contributing to a workspace that strengthens the urban core it now calls home.

FBT Architects
